Dear Hanson Little League Families,
We are excited for the 2025 spring baseball season. Your child is at the age of transitioning from the small (Little League) field to the big (full size) field. Baseball is the one sport that has such a drastic change in the game, at this age. We have been working to explore options for players of all levels.
For the first time, Hanson Little League will be adding an “Intermediate Division”, which is for 13 year old players ONLY and will be played on a 50/70 sized field. The field dimensions are in between that of the Little League field and the “big diamond” (60/90). While many teams and leagues have been utilizing this transition field for a long time, Hanson Little League is excited to offer this option this year.
Considering that this is for such a small age group, it is not feasible to run an in town league at this age division. Instead, the team will be in a rec level league that will consist of other towns (this is similar to the senior division). Other towns in this league have included Abington, Rockland, Carver, Bridgewater, Middleboro, and more.
Our goal and expectation would be for this team to continue as it has in Hanson Little League, with a team(s) of players from Hanson, competing together, against players from other towns. With a relatively small enrollment, this is a challenge that we would have to navigate as enrollment comes in, to make it work best for all; and if needed the format could change slightly.
While there are a lot of moving parts to starting this division; interest level is at the top. We would need enough players interested in order to create a team. While the early registration rate has expired, we have decided to extend that, through March 23rd, for players who sign up for the Intermediate Division ONLY.
